I had the absolute privilege to attend the Autum/Winter Burberry Prorsum show again at Kensington Gardens. The venue is so beautiful and the atmosphere is indescribable. I feel overwhelmed and do not quite know where to start.
I will start with my look for the day. I wore my new Burberry Prorsum trench I had purchased months ago and was saving for the big day, it is the perfect match for my lilac Chanel boy bag. I layered up with a classic shirt and my new white Kenzo sweater. I wore my Valentino shoes for comfort.
I arrived to what I thought was nice and early at 15.20 however the venue was almost full and the paparazzi were in full swing. I watched all the high profile celebrities walk their way through the carpet with the photographers screaming “Olivia look left LEFT I SAID LOOK LEFT!” poor celebrities. I am not sure how I manage it but I when it comes to Burberry, luck is always on my side, I always seem to be standing in the right place at the right time. First of all Olivia Palermo walks literally right in front of me and posed so I did what anyone would do and took her photo, Kate Beckensale did the same and my luck continued when Rita Ora decided to walk by my side as we walked in. So why not have a quick chat? I took the opportunity to take a (self) photo of myself and Rita, this is a problem when there is no one to take your photo!
Before I took my seat ( I had the same seat as last year :):) I spotted some other bloggers The Fashion Guitar, Soraya Bakhtiar and Tuula Vintage. I was seated second row YES SECOND ROW behind Sir Phillip Green (love him) opposite Miroslava Duma, right by the start of the catwalk, I could not ask for a better seat!
The atmosphere is so exciting by the time the cat walk started I had to remind myself why I was there, to view the A/W collection of course. As the music started the first model walked by, the music is so loud and the choice of song was perfect, I really love the sound of the 1000 cameras clicking too.
THE COLLECTION was truly beautiful, I was suprised by the heart pattern and continuation of stripes for next season. I am a lover of wearing hearts and animal print so I really did adore the collection. The big gold metal hearts and the details were incredible. The key factors were pencil skirts matched with knit wear and gold bar belts. There was also burgundy leather, heart patterns and big bags held as a clutch (Victoria Beckham style). A new take on the military trend came in the form of leather skirts made up of tiny tassels and gold appliques, seen both in the clothing and accessories line.
I was mesmorised every time Cara Delevinge walked past she is so perfect. At this point the show could not have got more amazing…until the screens parted and there was Tom Odell singing live with his piano and a choir in black Burberry trenches, spectacular! Such a beautiful innovation the performance was breathtaking and so moving. I even witnessed some people crying and wiping their eyes, I have read since in numerous articles that famous fashion editors were indeed crying because the show was so moving.
When the show ended I saw an opportunity to go back stage! The models were all getting changed and Christopher Bailey was standing in the middle of the room with hundreds of people and cameras surrounding him. My luck continued as I found my self in the front of the crowds of people standing literally first in line to Christopher, you can see from the photos how close I was. Back stage really is not glamourous all the celebrites wait in line within the mosh pit with their PR people and they get shoved over to Christopher to have a one second hand shake and photo. I got elbowed numerous times by full grown men/photographers but I refused to move. I heard Christopher explain backstage how he was inspired by a certain politician’s affair “I quite like the idea of taking something established and classic with something a little bit naughty and sexy.”
Just before I left I spotted the beautiful Cara Delevingne on the floor getting changed! I filmed her talking to CNN and then I had to rush to another show. As I was leaving I bumped into Cara, can you believe how lucky that was! I had a quick chat with her and a friendly photo. She looks so young and small in real life, I really do not have the words to describe her beauty, her face is exquisite and she really was so sweet and did not seem to be bothered in the slightest, she is probaly the biggest super model in the world right now.
I walked out behind Tinie Tempah, the paps were screaming his name along with the fans, that was slightly awkward for me as I was in the way! I ran to the car and rushed to Somerset house for the next show which I will tell you all about soon. I will upload the video of the show and of Cara tomorrow too.
This day was one of my most favouriite days ever and I will be a good, hard working girl and prey I receive an invite in September. If I have one wish this year it will be to attend the next show 🙂
I am wearing: Burberry Prorsum trench, Kenzo tiger sweater,
