Here I am finally uploading my fashion month marathon, yes I know it’s terrible please forgive me! Next season my ultimate aim is to blog each night of fashion week because leaving it so late it too stressful. The reason I have left it so late is because Chelsea Stylings gets neglected when I am away and spending every second at shows and meetings the evening’s are all dedicated to my clients, therefore I physically can not fit any time for blog write ups. Then theres the jet lag and the pure exhaustion but now I am refreshed, up to date at work and now going to make sure I write detailed reviews of all the shows I went to and the fashion gossip I picked up along the way.

This look was from the first full day at MBFW, although my first show was the previous night at Wildfox. I will write about Wildfox in the next post because I have a fab video with Kelly Cutrone to share with you 🙂

Each season I learning more about my own style and I am starting realise I am a glamorous tomboy; I wear boyish looks but with the added pink and pastel colours. It is so hard to dress for comfort, the weather and still look “good” and appeal to street stylers. With that said if I feel comfortable in what I am wearing then usually these are the best looks, confidence is key to pull of any outfit. I still have not ever managed a full day to plan and pack my suitcase so next season this is another factor I need to ensure I make time for.  My jumper was perfect for the cold weather but not perfect for my suitcase, imagine how much room this took up. This jumper was to blame for me wearing three coats at the airport which was not a good idea, I was so hot all the time and it stressed me out carrying so much.

My shoes were a life saver because they gave me some hight but were still safe enough for the iced floor. Leather trousers are key for any wardrobe they are so easy to wear and mauled to your body. Sunglasses are a must not only because it was so sunny but they really help for the street style because so often they probably cant use the photos if people have their eyes are half shut. Another thing I have noticed this season is how terrible my hair looked. It literally gets worse by the day and by the week; note to self –  make more hair effort.

I adore my backpack from Designer Exchange, I have wanted one for so long but was not going to settle for a badly worn one. The great thing about Designer Exchange is their stock is either new or nearly new, everything is in great condition. If you want to treat yourself to a new bag I would check here first because the products are like new.

Now to talk about the shows from day 1. The previous night Kelly Cutrone had kindly invited me backstage to the Nicholas K show. Bright an early when the Lincoln Centre was empty I went back stage to take photos, watch the models get dressed, see the collection up  close and meet the designers,  in this case brother and sister Nicholas and Christopher  Kunz. Going back stage allows you to really see how much work goes into the three minutes of one show from catwalk rehearsals, make up, dressers leading right up to the show it self. I had the privilege to sit back for a few minutes and watch Kelly at work; watching her commanding presence knowing exactly what herself and everyone in the room had to do was really inspirational.

This collection was inspired by “men at sea” and each look was styled with wellington boots which I couldn’t help thinking was exactly what I needed for the NYC snow. The colours were of a natural palette navy, slate grey, brown, black with the dash of cream here and there. There were nautical elements with the ropes, soft draped lines contrasted with harsh shaved hair lines, this I really loved. Nicholas said she wanted to do the denim “in their own way” the fabrics were light weight and were not your typical usual denim looks. Those wash board stomachs can not go un notice from the incredible models so if you have an intense flat tummy like the models then by all means pull out those crop tops next season. Sadly this is not a look I can pull off.

Over all the collection was simple enough to be worn season after season, which in my opinion is always a good thing. Even the colour palette was simple but was bought alive with a moody atmosphere and make up. My favourite looks were the cream knitted sweater and crop tops paired with the oversized jackets.

The next shoe was BCBG Max Azria, which was the twenty fifth anniversary show! The collection stayed true to the signature style of colour blocking, mixed fabrics and textures and asymmetric hemlines.   The use of fur was very much apparent form the rabbit to the fox to the racoon. This collection consisted of longer midi skirts paired with knee high boots which reminded me of a 70s look that I was seeing a few times on the catwalks this season. BCBG is always such a wearable brand that I feel would appeal to many people and women of different ages. The best piece for me was the fluffy clutches that would double up as a great hand warmer too.

I managed to get some amazing shots at this show because I mistakenly was swept away into the photographers pit which is at the end of each runway. I have always been curious as to what happens in these pits and now I know! I was squashed in a tiny space in between probably fifty men (few girls) and my legs were totally dead when the show ended. The guy next to me was laughing because everyone was wearing black and dressed quite simple and then there was me in a bright pink fluffy jumper!
