I am super excited to finally reveal a project I have been working on for the last few months. I was approached by d’or et d’argent which is a London based T-shirt brand to design a T-shirt that reflects me and the collection that was titled “POWER GIRLS”.
After meeting one of the founders I was so honoured to work with a brand that had so much meaning and passion: passion for my work, art, the earth and anything creative. When you read about the brand’s history you will understand more about the brand, the fabrics and the forward thinking identity behind the whole process from inspiration to design to production. The Tshirts are environmentally sound using recycled materials and feel softer than any garment I own. I have lived in my Tshirt, washed it over and over again and it still feels/looks like new. D’or et d’argent is wearable art but like the founders say “you have to wear it to understand it.”
The Power Girl collection is:
“d’or et d’argent”s A/W 2014 “Power Girl” collection celebrates the personalities and stories of five creative females. The vocation of these international bloggers, entrepreneur and singer/songwriter resonates with the central theme of the collection – Power Girl. The monochrome roses, colour bleeding effect and audio waves, combined with symbols of personal significance, is the stunning result of working closely with these five talented women. True to the spirit of “d’or et d’argent”, these five exclusive unisex pieces of fine digital prints manifests fashion, culture and technology from conceptualisation to wearable art.
When the brand asked me what image I would like to choose that reflects “me” I was surprised how difficult it was to think of something. Yes I love Chanel but I hardly wanted a Chanel logo tee, surely there is more to me than this? Yes I like flamingos but this is an image that we have all seen time and time again and who doesn’t like flamingos? Tallulah was sitting on my lap whilst I was working as always, and as I was thinking she was staring at me (as always) I suddenly thought ….. of course Tallulah is what represents me. Anyone who knows me knows how much I adore her, she follows me around the house, she travels with me everywhere, she brings me so much happiness, she’s very much a part of my blog and a tiny Chihuahua does remind me of my home in Chelsea and my roots back in Essex. Tallulah was the perfect choice.
The next stage was the design process, I left d’or et d’argent with all my inspiration and I waited for the five designs to come back to me. On my way back from Paris on a press trip with Nike I was emailed the five design options. Along with the help of the editors from Vogue and the The Edit we chose this design! It then took a week to perfect the chihuahua image because unless it was Tallulah’s face it would just look like a random dog to me. d’or et d’argent captured her perfectly and even scaled her head to her exact size.
Two weeks later the T-shirt was made and we shot this photo shoot. I only found out the name of the Tshirt when I saw it live on the d’or et d’argent website. I was so thrilled with the name, it made me smile. I couldn’t have thought of a better name myself. Chanel was incorporated in a discreet way with an “exploded” Camellia flower!
“Claire from Chouquette.com is a straight-talking, Chanel-loving British fashion blogger who has inspired this piece. Her rescued Chihuahua, Tatullah bedecks this exploding piece. The high-speed-digital-camera-shot colour bomb is reminiscent of the signature Chanel flower: Camellia and a classic Chanel colour palette and of course Claire’s less effeminate style.”
I enjoyed the entire process from start to finish and so happy with the final product. Not only does the design mean so much to me, I love wearing it because of how soft it is, how intense the print is and how baggy the fit is. To buy your own “Like Chanel” T-shirt click HERE. There are also four other designs from the Power Girl Collection which each have their own story and there is also the d’or et d’argent collection.

“d’or et d’argent” means “from gold and silver” is a unisex life style brand. By using photo mixed graphics as the
key handwriting, the brand creates luxury digital print on recycled green material. The spirit of the brand is to dedicate to the coming generation of ambitious artists and entrepreneurs around the world and to bring awareness of Protecting Our Earth.
The recycled material is a similar concept to Pharrell Williams’ Vortext Project for recycling the ocean waste. The recycled plastic is woven with a cotton hand feel. Using 21st century new technology called dye-sublimation, the colour is dyed into the yarn, rather than printed on the surface, which remains the natural smooth hand-feel.
The brand is a result of a random chance with two individual world kids.
One grew up in China and currently living in London, another grew up in France and now resides in Shanghai. After meeting in a night club in Shanghai 2 years ago, they became solid friends. Realized both sharing the mutual love and passion for wearable art and protecting Earth, they decided to start with the exclusive T-shirt line.
